A Personal History of Cancer Survival

Philip N. Richins

112 N. Sprague, Ellenburg, WA 98926.

This article presents an account of the author's cancer survival in light of the psychospiritual dimensions of extraordinary survival advanced by Paul Charles Roud. Roud emined characteristics common among survivors of "terminal cancer." Those characteristics are seen in this account as well. The process of self renewal and initiation into a "new life" is described. This process is likened to a shamanic initiation that launches the survivor on the path as a healer and a "boon bearer."
